Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Troy

We mount a slim aluminum track along your roofline, set LED lights inside it and connect everything to an app on your phone. You pick the colors and the schedule. No ladders each November, no tangled strands in the garage, and the track nearly disappears against your trim in daylight.

How a fixed LED roofline system works, and who it suits

The lights in this system never come down. Each LED node sits in an aluminum channel fastened to the fascia or tucked just under the drip edge, and the runs are wired back to a low-voltage power supply and a Wi-Fi controller. Open the app and you can set warm white for everyday accent light, switch to red and green in December, or put up team colors on a Sunday.

The payoff is biggest for people who hang seasonal strands every fall, for two- and three-story eaves where ladder work gets risky, and for anyone tired of plastic clips that loosen shingles and bend gutter lips. Because we are an authorized Gemstone Lights installer, the track, lights and controller all come from one matched system designed to run together.

Older homes in Troy and the surrounding towns often have wood fascia with layers of paint, aluminum-wrapped trim, or brick that runs right up to the eave. Each of those takes a different fastener and a different mounting line, and getting that right is what keeps the track straight and the lights aimed where you want them.

What the installation includes

A roofline layout walk
We measure every run, note inside and outside corners, and mark where the track starts and stops. You see the plan before anything is fastened.
Color-matched aluminum track
The channel is matched as closely as possible to your trim color, so in daylight it reads as part of the fascia instead of a light fixture.
LED lights set in the channel
Lights are spaced evenly inside the track and sealed in place. Because they sit recessed, snow and ice slide past instead of packing around the bulbs.
Power supply and controller
We mount the power supply near an existing exterior or garage outlet and connect the controller to your home Wi-Fi. Wires are routed tight to the structure and kept out of sight where the house allows.
App setup and a walkthrough
Before we leave, we set up the app on your phone, build a few scenes with you and show you how to set timers so the lights come on at dusk.

Signs permanent lighting fits your home

  • You put up holiday lights every year

If you spend a weekend on a ladder each fall and another taking strands down in January, a permanent system ends that routine.

  • Clips are damaging your gutters or shingles

Plastic clips pushed under shingle tabs or hooked over gutter lips can crack in the cold and lift edges. A fastened track does not touch the shingles at all.

  • Your roofline is high or steep

Two-story and three-story houses with tall gables are where most seasonal-light falls happen. With permanent lighting, the ladder work happens once, done by us.

  • The front of the house goes dark at night

A lit roofline adds curb appeal and makes the entry, driveway and house numbers easier to see on long winter evenings.

How an installation day runs

  1. 1

Quote by phone and site visit

You call, we talk through what you want, then we look at the house in person to measure the roofline and check the trim, the outlet locations and the Wi-Fi reach outside.

  2. 2

    Prep and mounting

We set ladders on pads to protect walkways and plantings, snap a straight line along the fascia and fasten the track. On brick or masonry we use anchors rated for it instead of forcing wood screws.

  3. 3

    Lighting and wiring

Lights go into the channel, runs are joined at corners, and the wiring is carried back to the power supply. Most of this work stays outside; we only need access to the outlet spot.

  4. 4

    Testing, app setup and cleanup

We run every zone through full color and brightness to check for dead spots, set up the app with you, and pick up all cut-offs, packaging and fasteners before we leave.

What moves the price

Every quote is built from the house itself, not a flat package. We give you a written, line-by-line number after we measure, so you know what each part of the job covers before we start.

Linear feet of roofline
The total length of track and lights is the biggest driver. A simple ranch runs far shorter than a house with several gables and dormers.
Height and access
Taller eaves, steep pitches and tight side yards between houses take more setup and sometimes lift equipment, which adds labor time.
Trim and wall material
Sound wood or aluminum fascia mounts quickly. Soft or rotted wood, or brick right up to the eave, needs extra prep or masonry anchors.
Power and controller placement
If a usable outlet sits near the run, wiring is short. Long runs to power, or several separate zones, add hardware and time.

Common questions about fixed roofline lights

Something not covered here? (518) 832-5989

Can the system take a winter in Troy?

Yes. It is made to stay outside all year through cold snaps, snowfall and repeated thawing and refreezing. Each light sits down inside the aluminum channel, so snow and ice slip over it rather than piling up. We also set the track so water cannot get held against the fascia.

Will the track show when the lights are off?

Barely. The channel is colored to match your trim and runs along one straight, even line, so from the road it passes for part of the fascia. Neighbors tend to spot it only after dark, when it lights up.

Will I need an electrician or an added outlet?

In most cases, no. The lights use low voltage and plug into an ordinary outlet, whether that is in the garage, the attic or on an outside wall. If no outlet near the run will work, we say so during the site visit and lay out the choices before you agree to anything.

Who puts it up, and is the job covered?

Our own crew handles the install, and we are a licensed and insured company with 5 years in business. As an authorized Gemstone Lights installer, we mount the system the way it was designed to be mounted, and you can see that in a straight line that keeps working year after year.

Can I run the lights when I am away?

Yes. The app connects through Wi-Fi, so wherever your phone gets a signal you can change colors, dim the lights or adjust timers. Or set a schedule one time and the lights handle themselves after that.
