Permanent Roofline Lighting for Troy, NY Homes

We install permanent lighting along your roofline: a low-profile aluminum track, weather-rated LED lights and an app-controlled controller you run from your phone. A Lighting Company That Works Outside Your Home

We are a small local company focused on one thing: permanent lighting mounted on home exteriors. That focus means we have seen most rooflines this area has to offer, from narrow brick row homes with flat cornices to colonials with deep eaves and split-levels with mixed siding.

Our installs are built around how houses here behave. Winters bring heavy snow, ice at the eaves and long freeze-thaw stretches, so we pay attention to fastener choice, drip edge clearance and where water runs off the roof. Summers bring heat and storms, so we seal connections and keep power supplies off the ground.

We would rather tell you a board needs replacing than mount over it and come back later. When you call, you talk to people who will give you a straight answer about what your house needs.

Permanent Lighting, Built for Your Roofline

Our work is permanent exterior lighting installation. We mount a slim track along the fascia or under the drip edge, set individually addressable LEDs inside it, and run the low-voltage line to a power supply near an existing exterior outlet. In daylight the track blends with your trim, so the house looks finished instead of wired. At night you pick the scene: soft white along the eaves year-round, or patterns and colors for the holidays without anyone climbing a ladder.

    Exterior Soft Wash

A low-pressure wash with a mild cleaning solution that kills green algae and mildew on siding, trim and gutter faces instead of blasting them off.

  • Roof Treatments

A low-pressure applied treatment that kills algae, moss and lichen on shingles, then lets rain carry the dead growth off over the following weeks.

  • Gutter Cleaning

Leaves and muck scooped out by hand, downspouts flushed clear, and hangers and pitch checked so water leaves the roof the way it should.

  • Window Detailing

Hand-detailed exterior glass, frames, sills and screens that clears pollen, salt film and mineral spots without scratching coated panes.

  • Roofline Surface Prep

Before permanent lighting goes on, we clean and test the fascia, gutter face or brick so the track seats flat and holds through winter.

What Goes Into a Permanent Lighting Price

We price each house from its own measurements. Two neighbors on one street can get very different numbers, since the shape of the roofline and the state of the trim account for most of the cost. Here is what we measure and check when we visit.

We take measurements at the house and give you a written quote for free. Unless you change what is included, the price you sign off on is the price you pay.

Total roofline length
Track and lights are sold by the foot, so how far the runs stretch along eaves and gables matters more than anything else. Doing just the front of the house costs less than going all the way around.
How high, how steep, how easy to reach
A one-story ranch goes up faster than a three-story house with sharp gables. High peaks, porch roofs that block ladders and narrow side yards mean more setup, and now and then a lift.
Corners, peaks and gaps in the line
Every turn in the roofline takes a joint or jumper, so a house full of dormers and gables uses more parts and labor than one long, straight eave.
Shape of the fascia and trim
Flat, solid fascia is quick to mount on. Rotted wood, loose aluminum wrap or drooping gutters need fixing first, and that work is priced as its own line so you can see it.
Where the power comes from
The lights plug into an outdoor outlet. A working outlet near where the runs meet keeps wiring simple. Without one, you may need longer runs or a new outlet put in by an electrician, and we say so before you decide.

Why Homeowners Pick Us for Their Roofline

Permanent lighting only looks good for years if it is mounted on sound trim, routed cleanly and sized to the house. Here is how we approach each install.

We check the trim before we mount

Older homes often have wood fascia hidden behind aluminum wrap, and soft spots are common where gutters have overflowed. We probe and look before drilling. If a board is rotted, we show you a photo and tell you plainly, because track fastened into punky wood will pull loose.

Mounting that respects snow and ice

Ice dams and sliding snow are hard on anything at the eaves. We position track so it sits clear of where ice builds along the gutter lip, and we use stainless fasteners that do not rust and streak your trim after a few freeze-thaw cycles.

Clean wire runs, no visible clutter

We plan the route from the roofline to the power supply before install day. Jumpers across peaks and corners are tucked behind trim or color-matched, and the power supply is mounted neatly near the outlet rather than left dangling.

A quote you can read line by line

Your written quote lists the linear feet, the number of runs, the controller and any trim fixes we found. No vague package pricing, and nothing gets added on install day without a conversation first.

You leave knowing the app

Before we pack up, we connect the controller to your Wi-Fi, set a schedule and walk you through changing scenes. Most people are comfortable with it in ten minutes.

How an Install Runs, Start to Finish

Most homes are finished in a single day. The steps below are the same whether you light one elevation or the whole house.

  1. 1

    Phone call

You tell us about the house and what you want lit. We ask a few questions about stories, roof shape and where your outdoor outlets are, then set a time to come out.

  2. 2

    Measure and inspect

We measure every run, check the fascia and gutters, find the best power point and note anything that could affect mounting. You get photos of any problem spots.

  3. 3

    Written quote and color match

We send the quote with lengths, parts and any trim work listed. We also help you pick a track color that matches your trim so it disappears in daylight.

  4. 4

    Install day

The crew sets ladders on mats, mounts the track, places the lights and runs the wiring to the power supply. We pick up every clip, drill shaving and wire tie before we leave.

  5. 5

    Setup and walkthrough

We connect the controller, test every zone and show you scenes, timers and brightness so you can run it yourself from day one.

Questions About Permanent Lighting

Can you see the lights during the day?
Very little. The track is a slim aluminum channel color-matched to your trim, and it sits along the fascia or tucked under the drip edge. From the street most people notice the clean roofline before they notice the lights.
Will the lights hold up to snow and ice?
The LEDs and connections are weather-rated and sealed, and the track is aluminum, so it will not rot or rust. We mount it clear of where ice builds along the gutter edge and use stainless fasteners. Heavy snow sliding off a steep roof is the main thing we plan around during layout.
Do you drill into my roof or gutters?
We fasten into the fascia or trim board, not through roof shingles. In most homes the gutters stay untouched. If the only workable mounting surface involves the gutter area, we explain the options during the visit before anything is decided.
Do I need a permit?
These systems are low-voltage and plug into an existing exterior outlet, so most installs do not involve new wiring. If your house has no usable outdoor outlet where the runs come together, a new one has to be added by an electrician, and permit rules for that work depend on your municipality. We flag this at the estimate so there are no surprises.
How does the app control work?
A small controller connects to your home Wi-Fi, and you use an app on your phone to pick colors, patterns, brightness and schedules. You can set warm white every evening and switch to holiday scenes in seconds. We set it up and show you how before we leave.
Can I light just the front of the house?
Yes. Many homeowners start with the street-facing elevation, since that is where most of the curb appeal comes from. We plan the track so more runs can be added to the sides or back later and tie into the same controller. That keeps the first install smaller without boxing you in.
How much does it cost?
It depends mostly on how many linear feet you light, the height and shape of the roofline, and the condition of the trim. We measure on site and give you a free written quote, so you know the full number before you decide.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are done in one day. Larger houses, steep multi-story rooflines or trim repairs can stretch it, and we tell you the expected timeline when we quote.

Troy and the Towns Around It

Our crews put up permanent lighting all over Troy and in the neighboring communities on both sides of the Hudson: Watervliet, Green Island, Cohoes, Latham, North Greenbush, Brunswick, Loudonville, Menands, Wynantskill and Albany. Houses across that stretch run from older brick and wood-frame homes to newer subdivisions, so every layout starts with the trim and roofline on your own house.
